The Start of Something New

Actually, it’s not so much ‘New’

I had incorporated a company in April 2018; planned, developed, and created everything from the website, to marketing strategies to actual campaigns. Then I sat on it and did nothing while I continued to work as a professional in my 9-5 job. Why? Why did I procrastinate with my idea that was registered 2 years ago? The same reason it took 4 years to even conceptualize. Yes, I first came up with this business idea in late 2014, around October or November.

I’ve put off following my dreams to my full potential because I’ve always allowed fear to control me.

I had two online stores, an online clothing store in 2009 and the other, an electronics store in 2013; these failed miserably as the local population was not early adopters. We were just not ready for e-commerce just yet. We had just started shopping online with lots of skyboxes and shipping solutions out of the US & Canada. E-Commerce was still relatively new for us, with no affordable payment processing gateways available in the region other than third-party solutions.

With Covid-19, it has forced many businesses to open virtually, to rely on online solutions. Something that was slowly developing in the Caribbean. When First Atlantic Commerce (FAC) came to the Caribbean and developed its first partnership with Scotiabank T&T bank in 2009, it was really expensive, where most SME’s were not able to afford it. Over the years, with integrations with other local banks, the service is now more accessible, and with forward-thinking companies creating local payment processors using FAC services, e.g WiPay.

I obviously regret not developing and working on my business ideas.

But I’m no longer afraid of putting myself out there.

So here it goes…

I’m in the process of launching two online stores again. Different than the others, one focuses on helping other businesses succeed with the use of digital marketing and the other a subscription service company.

I will release details on these companies as soon as some legal and digital testing has been finalized.
